Appendixes to the book contain plans for building several styles of canoes and also sources for supplies and information. Mr. Gilpatrick has made everything in this book simple and economical. It is suitable for any first time canoe builder. The only area in which the book is lacking is in some of the more advanced and specialized aspects of canoe building such as special finishes and fibers for certain types of canoes.

"What has this got to do with canoe building?" you ask! Well, it's something to read while the epoxy is curing and the varnish is drying. It's for all the people who asked me how long it's going to take them to build a canoe! Time: perhaps it's just an illusion.
Seriously, I have a copy of 'A Brief History of Time', and it's one of my favourite books, which I'm now reading for at least the fourth time, and it's still as fascinating as ever. Maybe you'll enjoy it as much as I do. If you don't like it, it makes a great gift.
