Classic Boat Kits, which is located in Dunrobin, Ontario, specializes in bead and cove strips for building canoes and kayaks. As you enter the shop, the rich tangy scent of cedar fills the air, and immediately brings to mind the next canoe building project. Everywhere you look, there are boards, strips and trim. With a considerable amount of ingenuity and effort, the owner, Peter Schultz, has adapted a state of the art moulding machine to be able to reduce a cedar board down to precisely cut and uniform strips in a single pass. Each strip is machined absolutely identically to all the others. Classic also makes up numerous strips of contrasting or striped woods to be used for trim. They take great care to package these strips in such a way as to minimize the risk of damage en route to their destination. It is no surprise to hear from them that they have shipped these perfect strips to points all over the world.
